In 2006 Softwear Scotland, Hansel and Gretel and Carojacs were taken over by Deborah shepherd who is continuing the business under the name "Carojacs". Deborah Shepherd has had years of experience in the design field, originally designing children’s clothing for a small business in Edinburgh, then more recently designing an extensive range of bridal wear in Aberdeen. As the previous partners Caroline Trotter and Jacks Murray Brown said they have taken the business as far as they can without further capital and time so they were delighted to hand over to someone with enthusiasm and drive as they felt the business was ripe for development and expansion.
Carojacs will still keep the same high aims, objectives and flare that Caroline and Jacks were so good at. Along with this the company has just employed a new designer. Fiona Scott recently graduated from University of Lincoln with BA (Hons) in Fashion Studies. She has also had experience in the fashion industry in London working for the Arcadia Group and Tracey Boyd. She is undoubtedly a dynamic acquisition to the company.
The main core of the business is the unique and individually designed children’s clothes together with an ever increasing new ladies collection. These are mostly made and designed in Scotland with immaculate attention to detail, making the items extremely distinctive. Top quality fabrics are sourced from around Britain and Europe to ensure the quality is second to none.
It is a Carojacs policy to produce excellent customer care. All staff are trained to offer the right advice which will ensure a fast and friendly service.
The shop is open 10 – 5, Monday to Saturday and 11- 4, Sunday. It is located at 4 Howard Street, Cannonmills, Edinburgh, EH3 5JP.
